West Virginia Division of Forestry officials detailed, on Jan. 5, 2024, detailed the 2023 fall fire season that charred 32,318 acres across the Mountain State between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31. Some of the affected areas included Paint Creek in Kanawha County.
