Bike-sharing program offering free rides for Spring Break

Houston BCycle, the city s bike-sharing program with multiple stations in the Heights, is offering local residents two opportunities for free rides during Spring Break next week. New BCycle executive director Bryan Reed will be at the Heights MKT Trail @ Shepherd Station, located at 700 N. Shepherd Dr., from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday to talk about the program, routes, nearby stations and upcoming stations in the area. Everyone who stops by during that time will receive a promotional code for a free, 30-minute ride that can be used at any time, according to a news release from BCycle. Additionally, readers of The Leader can download the free BCycle app and use the promo code LEADERSRIDE to receive their first 30-minute ride for free. A BCycle spokesperson said those who take advantage of this promotion must still enter credit card information, and a pre-authorized hold of $26 will be placed on the card, but that hold will be released within 1-7 business days.

Butch Reed Had COVID-19 Shortly Before His Death

Butch Reed Had COVID-19 Shortly Before His Death (Photo Credit: WWE) The family of “The Natural” Butch Reed recently spoke with the local FOX affiliate in Kansas City, MO and said they are still in shock about his passing. The pro wrestling legend passed away last Friday morning at the age of 66. Reed’s family announced on his Instagram account last Friday that he had passed away due to heart complications. This came after they made another post earlier in the week, announcing that Reed had already suffered two massive heart attacks in 2021. Reed’s family blames his death on COVID-19 as he tested positive for the virus around January 12.
