Going to the theatre is a great way to spend some quality time with family. It's a shared experience parents and kids can both enjoy which, unlike a movie night, gives everyone a break from their screens. Taking children to family-friendly shows is also the best way to instill in them a love of live entertainment which could last their whole life — and maybe even spark a desire to get involved in the arts themselves!

Now that Covid-19 vaccines have become more widely available to young children, the vaccination requirements in New York have changed in turn. On December 6, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced updated vaccine mandates for children aged 5-11, effective December 14. Children in this age group must have had at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine 14 days prior to attending a performance at a theatre indoors.

While Broadway theatres may be gearing up for reopening shows at full capacity in the coming weeks, going to the theatre won’t be back to normal just yet. In order for the safety of all parties in the theatre, protocols have been put in place to hopefully slow the spread of Covid-19 on Broadway and across New York.
