COATESVILLE â Jay Byerly has always liked history. And since he was young, he loved to take photos.
So he has combined his love for both and is helping to preserve memories of Coatesville that date back more than a century. I ve been taking photos of Coatesville since 1976, said Byerly, 63. I think some of the best photos I have taken are of the Graystone Mansion.
A.F. Huston built Graystone Mansion in 1889 and lived there until his death in 1930. Sold to the City of Coatesville in 1938, Graystone served as City Hall until 1992.

Byerly s collection of old Coatesville photos he has acquired â thousands of them â some of which date back to 1880, are now available to the public on a Facebook group called Coatesvillelife. He put together a DVD titled Coatesville Then and Now, and that video is available on the Facebook site.
