google a few years ago when the u.s. government last investigated the company. it was looking into whether google unfairly put its search results in a way it favored its services over others. the government at the time opted against bringing major penalties against google. these sorts of competitivy ue y issues what what could be under review by the government. tony, you cover this beat closely. seems to me as if there are, on both sides of the aisle now a growing number of people who think that the facebooks, the googles, the amazons, have all just gotten too big, too unwieldy? is that the sense you re getting from lawmakers in washington as well? yes. absolutely right. democrats and republicans who equally think these companies have just become too big and too powerful. they take different routes on exactly what should be done about it. more likely to hear democrats or folks on the left saying that perhaps these companies should be broken up. more likely to hear it expressed
