Man leads police on low speed car chase lands, cops $6k fine

Premium Content Subscriber only A low speed run from police has landed a man in his 60s with a substantial fine and his licence disqualified for two years. Cary Neil Drake pleaded guilty in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday to one count of evasion and another charge of wilful damage. On July 9 last year police were doing patrols in Avoca looking for a wanted person who had been linked to the area. During their patrols officers noticed a parked vehicle with two people inside. Drake was in the driver s seat while the person in the passenger seat was believed to be the wanted person.

Man denied bail after alleged serious DV incident

Premium Content Subscriber only A man has been refused bail after he allegedly threatened to burn down his partner s home in an act of alleged domestic violence. The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday by videolink from the Bundaberg Watch House. He is facing a number of offences include two counts of aggravated domestic violence order breaches. The man made an application for bail which was opposed by the prosecution. The court heard the man was also charged with public nuisance after he allegedly started yelling and threatening witnesses. Police prosecutor Senior Constable Tina Bland told the court witnesses told police the man appeared heavily intoxicated at the time.

Police discover offending in aftermath of mate s fatal crash

It started as a motorbike ride with a mate but for one Bundaberg rider it would end with his friend mortally wounded and police laying a string of charges against him. When police attended the scene of the crash that killed Beau Roberts they discovered his mate and riding partner Wylie Ethan Moon had committed offences which would land him in court. Moon pleaded guilty in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Thursday to driving while disqualified by a court order, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle and driving with paper number plates. The court heard Moon was riding a motorbike with Beau Roberts at Alloway on November 2, before Roberts suffered fatal injuries in a crash with another vehicle.
