Best Products of MSMEs Showcased at the NTF Digital Mall – Manila Bulletin

Published December 16, 2020, 3:36 PM In lieu of the usual National Trade Fair (NTF) organized annually, the Department of Trade and Industry – Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion (DTI-BDTP) is launching the NTF Digital Mall. This is in response to the unprecedented challenges faced by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has adversely impacted their operations. To help MSMEs future-proof their businesses as they pivot to online selling, the NTF Digital Mall is a platform that offers continuous promotion of the food and non-food products from the different regions, amid the physical restrictions of the pandemic. A project of the DTI-BDTP in collaboration with the DTI-Regional and Provincial Offices, the NTF Digital Mall is an e-commerce platform inside the UB GlobalLinker site.

Published December 12, 2020, 8:00 AM In March this year, the Department of Trade and Industry-Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion was all set to kick off its much-awaited 2020 National Food Fair, which was scheduled to run from March 12 -16, at the Megatrade Halls of SM Megamall. This had to be postponed due to Proclamation No. 922, declaring a state of public health emergency.  With the need to extend support to the local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the DTI through its Trade Promotions Group (TPG) led by Usec. Abdulgani Macatoman initiated the Bagsakan Project, a selling activity with a limited number of MSMEs from the different regions, particularly those selling fresh produce and processed foods.

Quezon City mayor Joy Belmonte at Bagsakan Fair Despite the ongoing difficulties, there is no excuse for us now to not support the farmers and small businesses from all over the country. Trade fairs today can be seen left and right, and the word easily spreads out through social media. In fact, last Dec. 1,  Bagsakan Fair was launched at Ayala Malls in Quezon City.  Born out of the desire to help farmers reach their customers easily, the fair features over 30 local MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises) sprawled across 6,500-square meter of space. The fair is made possible by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through the Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion, in coordination with DTI regional and provincial offices.
