Brian James Marriott, better known by his initials B.J., has been declared a dangerous offender and ordered locked up indefinitely.

Inmates at a Halifax-area jail say their rights have been violated by months-long rolling lockdowns, as correctional officers refuse work because of dangerous conditions.

The judge noted that assaults were observed on security cameras resulting in a variety of injuries, including two inmates who had to be taken to hospital. 

The Elizabeth Fry Society of Mainland Nova Scotia, which works with criminalized women and gender-diverse individuals, is seeking the public’s support for an important initiative.
