Yahaya Bello’s insistence that COVID-19 was a ruse was to ensure that the virus did not set the state’s economy backward. He said in Ilorin on Tuesday that: “it is not that the governor is not accepting the fact that there is a virus called Covid-19. “He just wants us to know it is an advancement of malaria which is not really a big deal. “That is why Kogi has refused to lockdown ever since the emergence of the virus because we don’t want what will negate our economy the more.’’

Kwara to begin paying 2,300 victims of Ilorin rainstorm Jan 20, says official

By Bushrah Yusuf-Badmus Ilorin, Jan. 19, 2021 Kwara Government will on Jan. 20, begin paying 2,300 victims of the recent rainstorm in Ilorin, the state capital, Mrs Habibat Yusuf, Chairperson of the Implementation Committee on Ilorin Rainstorm Disasters, has announced. ”Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq recently set up a committee to implement the report of a rainstorm committee in Kwara and the disbursement will commence tomorrow, Jan. 20, 2021, at the Civil Service Commission headquarters, Ilorin. ”Preloaded ATM cards will be presented to each beneficiary spanning three categories,” she said. She added that the three categories represented the varying sums of N25,000, N50,000 and N100,000, to be presented to each victim, depending on the extent of damage they suffered.

Kwara State Govt okays employment of 4,701 teachers, says official

By Bushrah Yusuf-Badmus Ilorin, Dec. 31, 2020 The Kwara Government has okayed the employment of 4,701 teachers in the state. This is contained in a statement issued by the Press Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mr Yakub Aliagan. Applicants, the ministry said, must have a Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) with at least five O’ Level Credit passes in Mathematics, English, and three other relevant subjects in not more than two sittings. The ministry said that out of the number, government advertised placements for 2,000 teachers in some specific subjects in the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) based on needs-assessment conducted in the commission.
