Pulitzer Prize winning digital media outlet BuzzFeed News is being shut down as part of a cost-cutting drive by its corporate parent that’s shedding about 15% of its entire staff, adding to layoffs made earlier this year.

CEO Jonah Peretti wrote in a memo that "the company can no longer continue to fund BuzzFeed News as a standalone organization."

Journalists are taking to Twitter and reacting to the news that award-winning news company BuzzFeed will be shutting down.

The second round of job cuts will affect 180 employees in teams including business, content, tech and admin, CEO Jonah Peretti said in an email to staff. It had previously cut 12% of its staff in December.
