Turning to the mueller investigation right now and that rare rebuttal of this buzzfeed report about michael cohen. you can see there, with all the reporting and speculation about the investigation, why would the special counsel actually weigh in now? what does it say about the investigation? >> this was a very rare comment from the special counsel and it shows that they felt they needed to clear the record, obviously, this buzzfeed report was an explosive report that basically implicated the pre...

Almost a bit -- this could be looked at as a bit of game playing. it will be interesting to see where it goes from here. >> game playing not what you want to hear when you have 800,000 and a domino effect with this shutdown. abigail, some people call it a cycle of one upmansship. nancy pelosi was asked to delay -- asked the president to delay his state of the union citing security concerns. the president postponing pelosis weekend trip to afghanistan, cancelling it all together by pulling back t...

My thing is lets find out if its true. the way we find out is when the mueller investigation has concluded. >> you dont believe impeachment discussions should be begun prior to the release of that report? >> i think that we need to know what the facts are. because impeachment by itself, what weve got to do, we got to make sure the senate -- impeachment by itself means nothing if you want to remove this president. you need republican votes on the senate side. we need to get the facts out. i dont ...

Reacted to this report? >> when we look at it. earlier in the show you mentioned this idea if they issued a statement like this for this report does that mean that all past bomb shells that came out are accurate? one of the interesting things is if you dial in and look at the conversation that was happening among democrats yesterday you had a number of people immediately start talking about impeachment because of allegations in the article. so i think when it came to, you know, this bomb shell a...

>> think about this. this seems to be unprecedented, right? what does this say about this particular report versus past reports when muellers office has stayed quiet? >> thats exactly it. i mean theres the actual wording of the statement, but if you take a step back, the mere fact that there has been no other statement quite like this leads one to believe that they must have really disagreed with this story. so much so that they made this really difficult decision of breaking their silence, whic...

York, nor do i think it is agents from any agency who are directly and intimately involved with the investigation. i think it could be people who are farther from the center of the investigation, perhaps people not working on it at all right now and the farther you get from the center the less reliable that information becomes. so with all of that said because i think that the credibility of all of those actors is whats going to be important at the end of the day in terms of our reliance on the ...

House. one the president expected to make a statement on that shutdown at 3:00 p.m. today. the second one involving the special counsels office and a report about the president. in a rare move robert muellers office disputing an explosive story from buzz feed. the report stated president trump directed his former lawyer michael cohen to lie to congress about negotiations to build a trump tower in moscow. the special counsels office put out this response. quote, buzz feeds description of specific...

Key senate races. you know national security is a top three issue. i wish they would be a bit more bold. you have that really interesting moment, after the oval office address, wer tha address remember that, 14 years ago, two weeks ago, the american gothic painting and im like probably not the best messengers and the best message. thats an opportunity for democrats. but for trump, look, why wont he declare a national emergency? we were talking about this. he goes to his base, and i joked, but ki...

Decide to take that step. we do expect him to offer some things he thinks that democrats can get behind. we dont expect him to declare a national emergency. >> and yet the president is also firing back about that buzzfeed article. what was he saying? >> reporter: the president feels vindicated in part because president trump has spent much of the past two years coming up with all sorts of creative insults for robert mueller. he called him a phony, the leader of an angry group of democrats, he ca...

Again, when i say proof, i dont mean proof necessarily even at the level of being able to prove it in a court of law. im talking about even a higher level of proof that people want which is being able to prove it to these yokels on twitter who are all into trumps head space, right? thats what were trying to get and thats why the buzzfeed deflation is so depressing i think for people on the left because if the buzzfeed report was 100% accurate which it now does not appear to be, if it was 100% ac...
