Lefty Driesell, the Hall of Fame coach whose folksy drawl belied a fiery on-court demeanor that put Maryland on the college basketball map and enabled him to rebuild several struggling programs, died Saturday. Driesell died at his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, his family said. Maryland planned to honor Driesell with a moment of silence before its game against No. 14 Illinois later Saturday.

It’s a busy week ahead as Caitlin Clark has her eyes set on breaking the NCAA scoring record while Brittney Griner will return home to Baylor to have her jersey retired. Clark needs eight points to pass Kelsey Plum for the most points ever scored in the NCAA era. Clark had 31 points in the fourth-ranked Hawkeyes' loss to Nebraska on Sunday when the team blew a 14-point lead and their star didn't score in the fourth quarter.
