Small businesses have complained they are battling, with both towns seeing outages for six days each.

An attempted cable theft incident and damage to infrastructure could see residents of Bedfordview in Ekurhuleni without electricity for up to five days, Eskom said on Tuesday.

The Bedfordview substation in the City of Ekurhuleni supplies electricity to residents in the area.

The rail operator was forced to cancel the bulk of its services with only a shuttle service running between Bellville and Kraaifontein.

The Lawley Community Centre has been without electricity for almost three years following a cable theft incident.

City Powers Isaac Mangena said that several areas had not come back online after power was switched off as per the schedule.
