View Comments The Detroit Tigers allowed a first-inning solo home run to Jose Ramirez, which wasnt much of a surprise. Last years American League MVP runner-up has crushed 21 home runs against the Tigers — only the Chicago White Sox have allowed more — in his career. In the second inning, right-hander Jose Urena allowed the first of two solo home runs to Bobby Bradley. He followed that by striking out four batters in a row with his sinker-slider combination, then gave up another solo ...

MLB Trade Rumors The Indians are signing Zack Godley to a minor league contract, reports MLBTR’s Steve Adams (Twitter link). The veteran righty elected free agency after being designated for assignment by the Brewers last week. He was far better with the Brewers’ Triple-A affiliate in Nashville, where he pitched to a 2.40 ERA with a strong 28.6% strikeout rate across six appear...

share-square-1369698 CLEVELAND -- He wasn’t needed in Minnesota after all, but Logan Allen won’t go much longer without toeing the rubber for the Indians. The only thing left to determine will be whether it’ll be out of the bullpen or as a starter. Allen was recalled along with outfielder Oscar Mercado prior to Monday’s series opener against the Tigers at Progressive Field. With Eli Morgan starting on Monday, J.C. Mejía slated for Tuesday and Cal Quantrill expected to start Wednesday, ...

by Seth Trachtman Updated On: June 25, 2021, 3:50 pm ET Coming off his worst season, albeit severely shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic, Robbie Ray was at a crossroads entering free agency. Fortunately, the Blue Jays kept the faith and are being rewarded. The left-hander is having an odd but splendid season in Toronto, flashing the best velocity of his career and ironically showing off the best walk rate of his career (6%) after a career-worst and embarrassing 18% walk rate last season. Ray h...

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Indians knew they were entering the year as an underdog. Because of that, the team has harped on the importance of aggressive baserunning since the start of Spring Training. But aggressiveness doesn’t always pay off. The Indians were trying to rally back from their two-run deficit in

By Frank Parkison (Photo by David Berding/Getty Images) MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- The Cleveland set the tone for the rest of the weekend series against the Twins. Tribe starter JC Mejia had a rocky start, throwing over 50 pitches through the first two innings, but managed to lock it in to go 6 full innings giving up just one lone run. Eddie Rosario go revenge against his former club on a go-ahead 2-RBI single that would end up being the difference in an Indians 4-1 win over the Twins. JC Mejia looke...
