The Los Angeles Dodgers led the Cleveland Guardians 3-1 after two innings Wednesday night when heavy rain forced the suspension of play until Thursday. Following the conclusion of the suspended game, the teams will play their scheduled series finale, though it isn’t considered a doubleheader. Kiké Hernández had a two-run double for the Dodgers, and José Ramírez homered for the Guardians.

When Kole Calhoun got back to the dugout, Guardians manager Terry Francona was waiting for him with a fist bump and slap on the back. Calhoun's towering three-run homer capped a five-run seventh inning as Cleveland rallied for an 8-3 win on Tuesday night and cooled off the Los Angeles Dodgers, who lost for just the third time in August. Calhoun, who was acquired earlier this month in a trade from the NL West leaders for cash, connected off reliever Caleb Ferguson as the Guardians came fro...

September can’t come soon enough for key players on the Guardians itching to get back on the active roster. President of Baseball Operations Chris Antonetti gave encouraging progress reports on slugging first baseman Josh Naylor as well as starting pitchers Triston McKenzie and Shane Bieber on Aug. 20 before the Guardians were beaten 4-1 by the Detroit Tigers. Naylor was placed on the 10-day injured list Aug. 4 because of a strained oblique. The Guardians have sorely missed his bat in the line...

The AL Central is on track to be the worst division in MLB history. But somebody still has to win it.

Once again, the Guardians came up a little short. If they don't return to the playoffs, losses like Saturday night's will be the kind that haunts Cleveland in the offseason. Kerry Carpenter hit a three-run homer off rookie Tanner Bibee, Javier Báez had a solo shot and Detroit's bullpen turned away several Cleveland scoring chances in the final innings as the Tigers held on for a 4-3 win.

The Cleveland Guardians (59-65) are favored on the moneyline (-113) in Sunday's contest with the Detroit Tigers (56-67). Game time is at 1:40 PM ET on BSGL.
