Prior to the Blackhawks opening the 2021-22 season, general manager Stan Bowman spoke to the media and addressed a number of topics pertinent to the beginning of the year.

The Blackhawks placed backup goaltenders Malcolm Subban and Collin Delia on waivers yesterday, with both clearing today, they now head to the Rockford IceHogs.

Former Blackhawk Mattias Janmark comes up huge for the Golden Knights in Game Seven, and reliving Brent Seabrook's greatest goal.

I know I’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating because we have to remember just how far from contention the Chicago Blackhawks really are in the NHL: These Stanley Cup Playoffs are a whole other level of hockey. It’s a canned cliche, but every team in the playoffs finds another gear in the postseason and turns up the speed, skill, and physicality. I love it and I miss it as a Blackhawks fan. •   Speaking of missing the memories, on this day six years ago, the Blackhawks played in...

Without games being played by the Chicago Blackhawks, I’m starting to get itchy for hockey. Then I remember that the Stanley Cup Playoff are about to begin and the itchiness goes away. It’s been a while since I’ve paid most of my attention in the NHL away from the Blackhawks, but with the new playoff system this year, I’m very intrigued to see how these Stanley Cup Playoffs shake down. What’s craziest to me is that there is a very possible chance that we could see a Boston-Toronto or ...

The Chicago Blackhawks went into the 2021 season without a legitimate starting goaltender at the NHL level. They came out of the 2021 season … basically in the same position. Kevin Lankinen emerged as a solid NHL-caliber goaltender in his rookie season, but he wasn’t able to keep his hot start to the season going all year long. Malcolm Subban and Collin Delia performed at the level you would have expected out of them, but neither fully took the reins as a long-term solution (as a starter or...

The Rockford IceHogs are off to a rough start to their shortened 2021 AHL season. Still searching for their first win of the year, the IceHogs are 0-3-1 after dropping their last two games – but, hey, that was the same start as the Chicago Blackhawks. Maybe the response to the 0-3-1 start with the IceHogs will be similar to what we saw in Chicago. That would be nice. Even though they have dropped all four games and have just one point in the standings, it’s not like the IceHogs have looked ...

With multiple games getting moved around before they even dropped the puck, the Rockford IceHogs 2021 AHL season got off to a rough start … And then they actually did drop the puck, and it was even rougher. Over the weekend, the team dropped their first two games of the season against the Wolves, falling 5-4 on Saturday and 5-2 on Sunday. With three assists in Saturday’s loss, veteran defensemen Cody Franson, who was named as an alternate captain (along with John Quenneville), leads the Ice...

The Rockford IceHogs, the AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, begin their season on February 5. Playing 30 games for the 2021 season against four different opponents, the IceHogs are coming together as a very young team and will possibly be focusing on development more this season than the wins and losses. With training camp opening this week, we introduce the Down On The Farm Report, a weekly look at the Chicago Blackhawks farm system news and notes from the AHL Rockford IceHogs. #Blackha...
