MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) - Authorities report that they have found the body of a baby who had been missing since Monday.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the death of 1-month-old Caleb Michael Whisnand Jr. Caleb’s body was found shortly after his parents gave a press conference Wednesday afternoon asking the public to help find their baby.
The manner of death was not released.
Investigators say the child’s father, Caleb Michael Whisnand Sr., was developed as a suspect and subsequently arrested on charges of manslaughter. He was placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility with a bond of $100,000.

As he tried to recall details of the last time he was with his missing 5-week-old son and family, Caleb Whisnand shook his head and furrowed his brow outside the Montgomery County Sheriff s Office on Wednesday evening. I don t remember much, Whisnand said.
Hours later, investigators discovered Caleb Michael Whisnand, Jr. s body buried in a remote area of Lowndes County, according to court documents, and charged his father with reckless manslaughter.
Now, authorities plan to upgrade the charge to capital murder based on additional evidence uncovered during the infant s autopsy.
Information in the case has been scarce and confusing since the baby, known as CJ, was reported missing by Whisnand on Monday night. Whisnand and CJ s mother, Angela Gardner, muddied the official timeline of the case while speaking to media on Wednesday. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office needs help in finding a one-month-old infant. Caleb Michael Whisnand Jr. Caleb Whisnand Jr. is described as white with brown eyes and brown hair.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says Caleb was seen with his father Monday afternoon around 3 p.m. in north Montogmery. He was seen again wearing a camouflage onesie around 10:45 pm Monday at a Circle K Gas Station on Wetumpka Highway.
