20-year-old charged with murder, arson in Winston County slaying

A 20-year-old Arley man has been charged in the slaying of another man in Winston County.
District Attorney Scott Slatton on Tuesday announced the arrest of Caleb Scott Farley. He is charged with murder and arson in connection with the Dec. 19 death of David Brian Hayes.
Hayes’ body was discovered that Saturday when firefighters responded to a blaze at 5954 Helicon Road in Arley. Investigators have not said how Hayes was killed but deemed Hayes’ death a homicide.

The investigation was carried out by the 25th District Attorney’s Criminal Investigation Division, the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Winston County Sheriff’s Office. Agents with the Region E Task Force also assisted.

WINSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) - Authorities have made an arrest after investigating a house fire in the 5900 block of Helicon Road in Arley on December 19.
Caleb Scott Farley has been arrested and charged with first-degree arson and the murder of David Brian Hayes.
Farley is being held in the Winston County Jail on a total bond of $250,000. David Brian Farley was killed on December 19. Caleb Farley has been charged with murder. (Source: Rita Hopper)
