Bishop Joseph Andrew Williams, formerly of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis in Minnesota, has joined the Diocese of Camden as a coadjutor bishop, meaning he will assist Bishop Dennis Sullivan until Sullivan retires next year, and possibly succeed him.
A professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia, she served extensively throughout the Camden and Allentown Dioceses, as well as in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
The New Jersey diocese and 300 survivors of clergy sexual abuse agreed to one of the largest such settlements in the country. The diocese filed for bankruptcy last year.
