Suspect indicted in 2018 killing of medical supplies salesman Justin Lett

A Jefferson County grand jury on Jan. 25 issued the murder indictment against 30-year-old Cameron Jamar Cook, according to court records made public Wednesday. The 28-year-old Lett, a medical supplies salesman, disappeared after leaving a Southside bar on May 13, 2018. Lett’s body was found in a north Birmingham alley the following day.
In addition to Lett’s slaying, Cook is also awaiting trial in the 2018 shotgun shooting death of 55-year-old Denise Fassel inside her Ensley apartment. Cook has been held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond since 2018.
Lett, a medical salesman, disappeared after he was last seen about 2:50 a.m. outside of Marty’s PM on the city’s Southside. He went out with friends on the weekend he disappeared and was last seen getting into a white sedan outside of Marty’s.
