Solano parks, recreation board to decide on top grant projects
The Board of Supervisors will make the final awards in the near future.
The commission meets at 10 a.m. in Rooms 1600 and 1610 on the first floor of the government center, 675 Texas St. in Fairfield.
The applicants, with projects totaling $12,847, are:
• Suisun Wildlife Rescue Center, ongoing fire rehabilitation, $2,500.
• Friends of Lake Chabot and the Greater Vallejo Recreation District, in-class trout project, $2,496.50.
• International Bird Rescue, resolving negative human-wildlife impacts, $2,500.
• Napa-Solano Audubon Society, determining success or failure of four colonies of the threatened tricolored blackbird in Solano County, $2.500.
• Campfire Golden Network, Vallejo outreach, public areas cleanup program, $350.

Fire-damaged Suisun Wildlife Center among 6 to seek Parks & Rec funds
FAIRFIELD The Solano County Parks and Recreation Commission has $10,000 in state grant money to give away and more than $12,000 in requests.
An ad hoc committee of the commission will review the six applications, totaling about $12,847, and bring back a recommendation. The full commission will then make a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors.
