The City of Calgary is outlining its plans to support and take in fire evacuees from the Northwest Territories during the wildfires.

Wildfire evacuees arriving in Edmonton, Calgary and Red Deer will be able head to evacuation centres being operated by each city.

Over 29,000 Albertans have been forced from their homes as more than 100 wildfires continued to burn in the province on Sunday.

The reception centre is located at Stampede Park at 2200 Stampede Trail S.E.

People displaced by Alberta wildfires will be welcomed at a reception centre at the Grandstand building on Stampede Park.

Every eligible evacuated adult will receive $1,250 and an additional $500 will be available for each dependent child under the age of 18

The City of Calgary is helping the relief effort for those affected by the wildfires in central and northern Alberta, including sending personnel to help battle fires and opening a reception centre for fleeing residents.

By Monday morning, Alberta Wildfire reported 103 active wildfires in the province, including 27 out-of-control blazes, 19 that are being held and 57 that are under control.
