Officials say about 170 homes and other buildings have been reported damaged or destroyed by wildfires in the Shuswap region of British Columbia, almost doubling the known structural losses in the province's ravaged Interior.

The massive Bush Creek East wildfire burning in B.C.s Shuswap has destroyed or damaged at least 168 structures, according to an incomplete survey of impacted communities.

The tool only applies to properties that were put on evacuation order

Provincial officials say residents defying evacuation orders in B.C.s Shuswap region are undermining the "unified" fight against the wildfires and compromising first responders safety – as tensions in the region remain high.

BC Wildfire's Brad Litke said the wildfires burning in Lake Country and Kelowna are now held, which means  it's not likely to spread past boundaries under prevailing conditions.
