Ottawas new police chief says his officers have already begun preparing for a possible reboot of the Freedom Convoy protest next year, and vows there will not be a repeat of the occupation that took over downtown Ottawa for weeks last winter.

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) won't allow a repeat of the Freedom Convoy protest that jammed the city's downtown with thousands of noisy trucks for three weeks last winter, according to its new chief.

The organizer said the event will involve convoy routes converging at a location outside of Ottawa on Feb. 16, for a four-day "unity" event.

The federal government is already preparing to deal with a new convoy protest being planned for February, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's national security adviser told a parliamentary committee Thursday evening.
