Article content When Agam Darshi landed the role of Radha in Deepa Meeta’s Funny Boy, she took great pains to prepare. The film is based on the acclaimed 1994 semi-autobiographical novel by Sri Lankan-Canadian author Shyam Selvadurai. Partly set against the lead-up to the 1983 anti-Tamil pogrom in Sri Lanka that preceded a brutal 26-year civil war, it’s a coming-of-age tale about a boy from a wealthy Tamil family who explores his sexuality.
