Judy Martin Hess is used to adoring fans who share a faith in God and are inspired by the Christian music she s performed with her siblings in The Martins for decades.
But, at an Ohio concert many years ago, a non-believer approached her and asked bluntly if the accomplished vocalist believed in the higher power she praised in song. She had come to the concert with her parents and she was in a Satanic church and had just really been disappointed with church and church people, and therefore with God, so she had decided to go in the opposite direction, Martin Hess recalled of the decades-old encounter. But she had really not found contentment and had not found peace in that.
