Southern Roots Nut Co. plans a $16M pecan processing facility in Dothan; $30M will support industry-ready sites under Alabama SEEDS program.

Alabama is already known agriculturally nationwide for its pecan production. Now, that profile is set to grow even further after New Mexico-based Southern Roots Nut Co. announced recently that it will be opening a pecan processing facility in Dothan.

The program aims to build "a more robust innovation pipeline in our state," MEDC CEO Quentin Messer Jr. said in a media briefing prior to today's Michigan Strategic Fund board meeting.

The Douglas County Housing and Redevelopment Authority was awarded $91,396, which included a “High Performer Bonus Adjustment” of $4,352.

Ohio received a total of $113,606,571. Of that amount, the Chillicothe Metropolitan Housing Authority was awarded $1,171,376.
