We go on and on about how making cars is hard. Startup after startup crumbles away, particularly in the world of electric cars. Somehow, though, Kia makes it look easy with the EV6, its first ground-up, dedicated EV.

Kia, of course, has it easy. Much in the same way that the Kia Optima is just a Kia version of the Hyundai Sonata, or the Kia Telluride is just a Kia version of the Hyundai Palisade, the EV6 is a Kia version of the Hyundai Ioniq 5. How Kia got away with getting an extra number out of the transition, I do not know.

To celebrate its seven decades of history, Land Rover is searching for seven American non-profit organizations to receive a customized Land Rover Defender SUV. Land Rover stated that they hope to empower these organizations to further help others.
Through July 27, Land Rover will be accepting video nominations for organizations making a difference in seven distinct categories. Full information on the nomination process is available here.
To qualify, organizations must be U.S.-based 501(c)(3) non-profits whose efforts fall within the seven categories outlined in the program. Categories include Search and Rescue, Coastal and Marine Conservation, Animal Welfare, First Responders, Environmental, Urban Improvement, and Fire Services.
The Jeep Grand Wagoneer name has returned for the first time since 1991, and while the new SUV doesn’t have the iconic look of the old woody, the overall level of swag might be even higher. And that’s thanks in large part to its incredibly luxurious interior.

Hey look, there’s a new Jeep that shares a name with an old Jeep, meaning I am contractually obligated by the car gods to start this article talking about the history of the name, and how this vehicle compares with its predecessor.
But I’m never again falling for that classic marketing trick of getting customers to build an association between the new machine and the extremely awesome old one with which it shares very few traits. Nope, the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is an entirely new vehicle that needs to stand on its own, without help from an underpowered V8-equipped and fake wood-wrapped design icon.

In between getting my pants handed to me in kei van auctions and waiting for the auction list to refresh, I see what other interesting cars I could import from Japan. The comments on yesterday’s 1995 Ferrari 456 GT were sprinkled with lots of sentiments along the lines of “It’s not my cup of tea, but it’s a good deal for someone who is into it.” It was almost like you were encouraging someone to go on a blind date by emphasizing that the other party has a “great personality.” At $65,995, the Ferrari had a great price. At least that’s what it seemed the majority of you felt by honoring the car with a 74 percent Nice Price win.
I’d like to ask an important question: Are you as confused about BMW’s current lineup as I am? I mean, can you honestly tell an X4 from an X6? And don’t get me started about adding the company’s Mini subsidiary into the mix. Things used to be much simpler at the Bavarian automaker. At one time you just knew that the small car was called a 3, and every number above that would generally be bigger and more expensive.
