EAST COUNTY
Santee resident James Sly has been named the new president and chief executive officer of the East County Economic Development Council.
The nonprofit’s board of directors selected Sly in December to replace Jo Marie Diamond, who retired last September but will keep a senior advisory role through the end of this year.
The East County EDC was organized in 1984 to promote economic development and investment in East County by bringing in and supporting businesses throughout the region. The group fosters partnership and cooperation among businesses and organizations throughout San Diego County.
The group most recently has been partnering with the County of San Diego and the cities of El Cajon, Santee and La Mesa to provide more than $2.4 million in COVID-19 relief grants to nearly 400 small businesses and local organizations.
