A constable in West Bengal Police underwent an unintended surgical procedure after a diagnostic center provided an incorrect report. The surgeon, relying on the report, removed the constable s appendix instead of addressing the presumed gallstone issue. The West Bengal Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission (WBCERC) has ordered the diagnostic center to cover the full cost of all tests. The constable was diagnosed with a rare condition called congenital absence of the gallbladder.
