With projected national shortages of 63,720 registered nurses in 2030 and 141,580 licensed practical nurses in 2035, a new report finds one-third of nurses plan to leave the profession in the next two years. More than half claim insufficient staffing is the worst part of the profession and the leading cause of their well-being struggles and poor mental health (71 percent). Nurses reported experiencing symptoms of anxiety (46 percent), insomnia (35 percent), and depression (32 percent). This national survey has helped to identify innovative ways to improve quality of work and life for current and the next generation of nurses.
A study finds four different adopter groups are looking for particular properties of adoption trends to inform their purchasing decisions and that those properties can be formulated mathematically with testable predictions. Innovators look for new products and try them out first, regardless of what anyone else is doing. Early adopters, who look for new future successful products, try to get them early. They react to the value of the second derivative of cumulative sales when making decisions. The majority are interested in products quickly gaining popularity and are more likely to buy when the first derivative of cumulative sales is high. The laggards see only the total number of adopters, which is cumulative sales, as a convincing reason to buy.
