One Central Mass. woman s employment odyssey during the pandemic
STURBRIDGE – Three Kokedama, moss balls with fallen birch bark and miniature orchids that are an intriguing Japanese garden art, hang in the front window of Amber LaChappelle’s Teeny Tiny Grow Shop, her new space at The Painted Stone Emporium.
Kokedama reflects the aesthetics of wabi-sabi, the Japanese philosophy of appreciating beauty in imperfection, simplicity and the acceptance of change.
“This is how I feel about my life,” LaChappelle said. “My life is never going to be perfect. As you’re trying to make it perfect, you realize that it’s the imperfections that make your life.”
