COLUMBUS, Ohio After finishing round one of the 2021 NCAA Columbus Regional 16th out of 18 squads Monday, The University of New Mexico women’s golf team sits tied for 15th overall through two rounds as the teams wrapped up round two on Tuesday. Freshman Myah McDonald is now the Lobo leader with a score of 154 (+10).
New Mexico shot a score of 310 in both rounds for a two-round total of 620 (+44) to tie Nebraska for 15th. In the lead is Georgia (577, +1) followed by Michigan (584, +8) and Duke (585, +9). All five of the top teams in the field through two rounds are ranked in the top 30 in the nation. UNM is No. 46.

Freshman Myah McDonald and sophomore Lauren Lehigh are tied for fifth through day one of the 2021 Mountain West Women’s Golf Championships on Tuesday as the Lobos sit tied for second place overall. The final round of the MW Championships is set to tee off on Wednesday at 8 a.m. MT while UNM tees off at 9:30.
New Mexico is tied for second with a score of 593 (+17), 11 strokes behind first-place San Diego State (582, +6). The Lobos are tied with Fresno State while San José State and Nevada are tied for fourth, nine strokes behind with scores of 602 (+26).
“We saw a lot of good things out there today, but we gave away too many shots the first round,” head coach Jill Trujillo said. “We’ll have to take it low tomorrow. Lauren and Myah had solid rounds and their consistent play helped keep us toward the top.”

The University of New Mexico women’s golf team is set to enter the 2021 Mountain West Women’s Golf Tournament as the top-seeded squad in the field on Tuesday, April 20, in Rancho Mirage, Calif. at the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club (par 72, 6,270 yards).
New Mexico heads into the tournament the highest-ranked Mountain West squad, 46th in the nation, as ranked by GolfStat. The Lobos lead five Mountain West teams to rank in GolfStat’s top 75 including San Diego State (47), San José State (54), UNLV (59) and Fresno State (73).
A Lobo win would mark the ninth in UNM women’s golf program history. UNM’s current win total of eight marks the most of any other conference team.
