Workers completed the heavy lifting but Christian Hartnett says there is more work to do tonight. He is live at the bridge. Reporter thats right. It will be a busy night for crews working on the bridge. When it is all done, it will be a safer drive over the bridge but drivers but one that may take some getting used to. The work began early and the spectacle drew quite a crowd. This is great. This is exciting. No cars, this is quiet. It is a once in a lifetime experience. Im ann notarangelo. The epic delay started on the tarmac in abu dhabi where a nonstop flight to sfo took 12 hours just to get off the ground. Our Christian Hartnett is at sfo where he found frustrated and hungry passengers. Christian . Reporter yes, they finally made it here to sfo, but as you mentioned, extremely frustrated and many of the passengers very angry. Now, the plane was sitting on the tarmac in abu dhabi more than 12 hours because of delays but no one could tell them what was going on. Home sweet home, but for many, the feeling of land under their feet is bittersweet. This has been the worst experience of my life. Frustrated. The culprit, the Fire Departments water main line, which runs right under the school. For some reason, it gave way and it literally exploded. Not sure what caused the fire line to pop. Happy no students were inside. They could have been hurt. One of the floors in one of the classrooms actually, essentially blew up almost 3 feet. Up cement. Could have been even more devastating. Crew haves been working tirelessly to clean up the mess. Desks and chairs, even props from the Drama Department drying off in the sun. Construction and work going on for quite a few months. Still for students, no extra time off. School goes on. Same place, same time. Well start school on monday. The school says it most likely will be a few months before those classrooms are fixed. It is about at that location where that crosswalk is, and thats where mother and child were hit. Just beyond, where you see in this video, you see those chp cars lined up in a row is the crosswalk. About 75 yards from that point on the on ramp is the white suv, that has since been towed away by chp. It had just taken the on ramp, when it hit the mother pushing a 1yearold in a stroller. Both on scene have been taken to hospitals. They were seeking answers about what happened here about the condition of mother and child, and talking to the chp. This onramp was closed for several hours. Chp investigators search for evidence of the impact, and other indications of a cause. Investigators could also be seen talking to a woman. The driver of the vehicle is crop rating with chp. Alcohol and drugs have been ruled out at this point. However, the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
