A Crestview man will spend the rest of his life in state prison after beating his mother to death with a hammer so he could steal her debit card.

Lee County commissioners on Monday rejected Gov. Roy Cooper’s request for counties to impose civil penalties against those who violate his COVID-19 executive order.
