Anna Shane, a local high school student from Carson City, has been selected by the Nevada Section of the Society for Range Management to participate in the High School Youth Forum, an SRM sponsored youth activity held jointly during the 77th SRM International Conference.

Winterfest celebrations kicked off this afternoon with an assembly, and Carson High School was pleased to announce the student-elected candidates and theme and fundraising beneficiary: “Senators Got Game” and Special Olympics, respectively.

Looking ahead to Wednesday, we can expect sunshine and a gradual warmup. Midweek events around town include art showings, yoga and meditation classes, Salsa dancing at Yaples Ballroom, country and pop dancing at Carson Lanes, a safety workshop for women and more.

Carson City native Rachel Lindgren was a winning contestant on the popular TV quiz-show “Jeopardy!” for five straight matches. Lindgrens streak came to an end on her sixth appearance Friday, when a freelance writer from Los Angeles, Jennifer Tomassi, took the match with a score of $20,401.
