A fast moving weather system will move across northern Nevada and the Sierra on Friday into Saturday, bringing gusty winds, prompting wind warnings and advisories for the region. The weather system will also bring periods of mountain snow and mainly light valley rain, according to the National Weather Service.

A series of weak weather systems will keep cool temperatures in place and bring periods of snow showers to the Sierra and rain with possible snow showers in Carson City through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. Light snow accumulation is possible down to some western Nevada valley floors Monday through Wednesday.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Just when you thought it was safe to start dreaming of spring and gardening, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Lake Tahoe Basin. The warning is in effect from 2 p.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Saturday.

There are 18 SNO-Parks on U.S. Forest Service land in California, ten in the Lake Tahoe Basin with many others just a short drive away. The parks offer cleared parking for vehicles, and opportunities for non-motorized winter activities including cross-country skiing, dog sledding, and snow play.
