Fundraising campaign set up to assist one of the families left homeless by Dec. 17 blaze police believe was set deliberately

A 50 year-old Carson City man was taken into custody early Saturday morning at 1:36 a.m. in the 500 block of North Carson Street for multiple misdemeanor counts, a Carson City Sheriffs deputy said, including assault, battery and breach of peace.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is asking for the publics help identifying possible suspects involved in several vehicle burglaries that happened in Carson City and Douglas County.

NV Energy is reporting a power outage in Carson City near Highway 50 and Roop Street. As of 11 am, 119 people are without power, according to their website.

UPDATE 4:30PM: The Nevada Highway Patrol reports one fatality in the crash Wednesday afternoon on US-50 and Highlands in Mound House. Traffic is shut down to one lane for the two-vehicle crash. NHP advises motorists to avoid the area.
