The infamous "Zodiac Killer" appears to have made a return when an unidentified individual sent Chinese letters to various Upstate NY TV stations. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has urged staff to be aware of any new letters and not open existing ones to preserve potential DNA evidence.

News of the letters was first reported Thursday by the Albany Times Union, which did not receive one. It is unclear what the letters say or which outlets got one.

When writer Beth Cleavy moved from Nottingham to Manchester a few years ago, she was keen to make new friends and meet like-minded people.

The FBI said that the community isnt in danger, but told news outlets to not open any potential letters from the source to help preserve possible DNA evidence.

Gary Poste, the man alleged to be the Zodiac Killer, reportedly recruited a group of troubled young men and ordered one to shoot an enemy dead.

The group says that prior to his death, Poste had given away weapons and bullets that could provide key evidence in the case.

Earlier this year a team of specialists who investigate cold cases and mysterious events believe they identified the Zodiac Killer, Law Officer reported at the time. Now the group of investigators have released a statement indicating a trove of evidence has been discovered and linked to the decease
