Last month, Casey Devol pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder, including his sister, and one of animal cruelty. Monday, a Douglas County judge sentenced him to 97 years in prison.

A judge in Douglas County sentenced 31-year-old Casey Devol to 97 years in prison for shooting and killing his sister, his sister’s boyfriend and a dog in the in rural area of Franktown last year.

“When no eyewitnesses to these murders existed, a digital recorder device became a voice for the victims,” officials said.
