A new tele-remote dozing system (TDS) at Rio Tinto’s iron ore operations in Western Australia is wholly focused on operator safety.

Since 2013, trucks with Cat MineStar Command have autonomously hauled more than 4.4 billion tons, and all without a lost-time injury, Cat says.

Haul trucks equipped with Cat MineStar Command autonomously moved 1.2 billion tons in 2021, according to Caterpillar. The milestone comes on the heels of the company announcing last month that it had more than 500 autonomous trucks deployed around the world.
