UNICEF deeply concerned by death and injury of children due to landmine and grenade explosions in Pakistan Format Several children were reported killed and seriously injured in several incidents linked to the detonation of landmines and grenades over the past days PESHAWAR, 6 June 2021 – UNICEF is deeply concerned by the death of three children, age 10 to 16, who were reported killed in the detonation of a landmine in South Waziristan, one of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Merged Districts (KPMD) along the Afghan border, on Tuesday. Another two children were seriously injured in the blast which took place in the village of Tungi Badinzai in Ladha Union Council.

UNICEF condemns killing of four women in North Waziristan Format ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, 22 February 2021 - UNICEF is saddened and shocked at the reported killing of four women who were reportedly staff members of Bravo College Bannu, and were travelling to North Waziristan, one of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Merged Districts, earlier today. Their driver was reportedly injured in the attack after unidentified assailants fired at their vehicle. “UNICEF condemns in the strongest possible terms this senseless attack on women and aid workers and joins the families in mourning this tragic loss of lives. The perpetrators must be brought to justice,” said Ms. Aida Girma, UNICEF Representative in Pakistan.
