The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society is bringing back its pop-up gardens to South Street on April 1 and Manayunk on April 2. The beer gardens will feature cocktails, wine and a variety of beers, plus an array of plant-based foods. Events include plant swaps, quizzo tournaments and craft-making programs.
Flavors on the Avenue, East Passyunk's spring food festival, returns on April 24 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., from Broad St. to Dickinson St. Enjoy live music, street food from neighborhood restaurants and more than 80 craft vendors.

The end of prohibition was a big deal in Milwaukee backing 1993. In 1933 this is the day that prohibition effectively ended. And the celebrations in Milwaukee were almost as big as when World War II ended, said John Harry with the Milwaukee County Historical Society.
