Averill Park propositions rejected

Averill Park Central School District voters turned down two propositions totaling $45 million, according to the district.
The $32.7 million proposition was defeated 816 to 676 on Tuesday. The second proposition for $12.8 million was rejected, 928 to 564.
The Board of Education and administration will determine the next steps. More information will be communicated as it becomes available, the district said in a statement.
The first proposition was to improve security at the district’s schools while creating a guidance suite at the Poestenkill Elementary School and renovating and expanding the cafeteria at Miller Hill-Sand Lake Elementary School. The second proposition was to create a college and career readiness center and make classroom improvements and upgrades to the high school athletic facilities.
