Cripe officially retiring

ALBION — A strong case could be made that no one in the area has literally affected the quality of life for more people in the Albion-Cromwell area than Dr. Ken Cripe. But after 50 years of chiropractic service to children as young as 3 days and adults as seasoned as 98, Cripe is retiring. An open house for Cripe will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Church in Albion. “Originally, I was going to retire when I was 55,” Cripe said. “My dad died when he was 59, so I wanted some time to enjoy life.” But as that tentative deadline came and went, he kept at it. He moved to part time when Sarah Ragan purchased his Albion location and equipment in 2018.

45 years ago, Oct. 6, 1976 “4-H-Room to Grow,” was the theme for National 4-H Week to be observed by nearly 900 Noble County members from Oct. 3-9, 1976. Alan Ader, Extension youth agent, said there would be no formal celebration of the observance in Noble County, but each of the 30 4-H clubs in the county would continue with their general activities. Several townships were going to be conducting their 4-H achievement programs during the week. Angela Lortie, 17, was one of some 22 youths representing Indiana as delegates to the 22nd Annual National 4-H Dairy Conference at Madison, Wisconsin. Angela was a senior at Central Noble High School and had completed eight years in the 4-H dairy project.

Central Noble graduates 97

ALBION — With plenty of pomp and plenty of circumstance, Central Noble High School graduated 97 seniors Friday night in the high school gymnasium. In her welcome to Friday’s commencement proceedings, Central Noble Principal Shawn Hoover said that across this nation there are hundreds of graduations going on this spring. Some of them had large classes. Some of them smaller. Some ceremonies were likely impersonal, while others might evoke a tear or two. But the graduates themselves? “They all had something in common,” Hoover said. “They had someone who cared about them, supported them and held them accountable.” Hoover encouraged the graduating seniors to thank those who had done this for them. With the last year and a half affected by the coronavirus, plenty of assistance was needed.
