manipur: Fresh firing reported at Kangvai in Manipur's Bishnupur district

Intermittent firing between security forces and protestors continued at Kangvai-Awang Lekhai in Bishnupur district. Additional Border Security Forces were sent to control the situation, while columns of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles were sent to Songdo. In Imphal, a mob of 200 people set two vehicles on fire near Kangla Fort, and a retaliatory firing incident was reported in Laikot area of YKPI.

Manipur police stated 24 bunkers were destroyed in Imphal East, Kangpokpi and Imphal West Districts by combined team of Manipur Police and Central Security Forces. The police on a statement stated situation is tense in some places with sporadic incident of firing and congregation of unruly mob during the last 24 hours. However, situation is normal in most districts.
