St. Louis police have confirmed that the gunman who forced his way into a high school, killing a student and a teacher and leaving seven others wounded, used an assault

The firearm used by a gunman to carry out a deadly rampage inside his former St. Louis high school was confiscated about a week before the shooting, police said.

The gunman, who graduated from the same school last year, "forced entry into the school" with the rifle and a large amount of ammunition, some of it strapped to his chest, police said.
