Voting by the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame (CHRHF) Standardbred and Thoroughbred Election Committees has been tallied and the CHRHF Class of 2024 is now confirmed.

After guiding Outlaw Blue Isle to her first Fillies & Mares Preferred win on Friday, Dave Kelly engineered the winning trip with stablemate Bonus Round in the Preferred Pace on Saturday, April 20 at Century Downs to give that pacer his first top class tally.

Outlaw Blue Isle earned her first victory facing Preferred distaffers, holding on for the half-length score in the $12,500 top mares class at Century Downs on Friday, April 19.

The 2024 season has started very well for veteran campaigner Carro B Bunsen, on pace to post career best numbers at the age of six.

Returning to action from a three-month layoff, an overlooked Outlaw Sharktastic was a 20-1 upset winner in the featured $12,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace at Century Downs for trainer/driver Nathan Sobey.

The duo of driver Mike and trainer Rod Hennessy captured plenty of Preferred pacing events at Century Downs in 2023 thanks to Horse of the Year Shark Week. With that star still to find a place to race this meet, Team Hennessy remains a threat in the track's top classes.

The best of Alberta's 2023 harness racing season were honoured at the annual Alberta Standardbred Horse Association (ASHA) Awards during a night of glitz and glam on Saturday, March 9 at the Best Western Calgary Plaza Hotel.

When the 2023 season of harness racing concluded at Fraser Downs, perennial standouts Brandon Campbell and Kelly Hoerdt finished atop the leaderboards for drivers and trainers at the B.C. oval. But when racing returned to Fraser Downs earlier this month, neither Campbell nor Hoerdt were listed on the overnight sheets.

With the Century Mile meet concluding on Saturday, Feb. 3, harness racing in Alberta will shift to Century Downs with the Calgary session beginning next month on March 16.
