Everyone. From a quality to Racial Justice to immigrant rights, all of us. Every single day im part of a Historic Movement to reclaim the story of america from those who wish to roll back the clock on our progress. As we work across communities and identities with quality, please take a look at this video we created celebrating the voices fighting for fairness and justice for all. One year ago we addressed the nation in the midst of a heated election. An america that is diverse and bighearted. I am a proud american. We are blessed to raise our three sons where they are free to be themselves. We have gone from a presidency of progress into prejudice. We have seen attacks on transgender kids and troops. Countless efforts to move Health Care Away from millions of americans including those living with disabilities. The criminal justice reform. But also no presidency can silence our voices. We took for the streets. We filled airports. From coast to coast and countless main streets in betwee
Lgbt health forum. This is actually a very, very special one for us. And were doing a number of wonderful things, celebrating our fifth year of our program, and ill tell you about the program in a moment. But not the least of which is this incredibly Powerhouse Panel we put together, and on a topic thats fairly urgent right now. If youre not familiar with our forum, this is our Public Outreach mechanism. We do this every year with the start of our annual summer residency, which begins our program. During the residency, all of our students who are in the new cohort are in town from all over the country and many times all over the world. And this is our way of sort of reaching out to the public, letting you know who we are and what we do. Our program is a graduate certificate program, and our mission is to train medical and Mental Health professionals, Health Professionals in the broader sense, to improve the quality of care for lgbt people. Thats our mission. We started this around 2011

We thought, hey, there might be something to do here. A number of key things happened and we started the wheels moving. And here we are five years later. If you know anything about academia and what it takes to get a program launched and to keep it going, five years is pretty special. Were proud of it. Im also proud of our new class and our alumni. Im going to embarrass you for just one mo
Thank you for coming. Im grateful for your presence and voices. Today the gentlemen, president of the United States told thousands of American Service members that though they will lay down their lives for us, that he, that we, will not fight for him. As we defend our freedom, many of which we take for granted every single day, we will not offer them the most basic freedom in return, the ability to be true to yourself. The president dared to question the patriotism of our military, and in doing so, questioned our nations greatest strength, its greatness and its goodness. The haphazard, and hateful policy shift threatens not only the livelihoods of thousands of Service Members and families but calls intod, question some of our deepest values as well, and he didnt even have the courage to look them in the eye when he did it. Inside a house they give life and limb to defend. He attacked their humanity and basic human rights. Manvery single transgender , onwoman in our military our shores
On the court, he was learning new things. Maybe he was learning new areas of law or skills. There was always a way to keep learning, even in a job you had done for a long time. I think that is incredibly important advice, which i try to think about all the time. I am in all of many of my colleagues that they have been on the court for a lot of years, but they are still thinking hard about every case. I think everybody on the court does that. Even people who have been there for really quite a long time. Im a huge fan of my colleagues for that reason. There is nobody there that is on autopilot. It might be the 23rd time ive seen this issue, but im going to think through this issue as hard as i did the first time. Think that she i has talked about her parents. She says that her parents memories remind her every day of the impact Public Service can have. She said she prayed every day that she would live up to the example they set. I think we would all agree that she has exceeded this examp
