Journalists Fortune Francis and Sunday George were assaulted and their mobile phones stolen while covering a political rally on July 22 in the capital Dar es Salaam. They were working for the media company Mwananchi Communications Limited, which publishes Mwananchi and Mwanaspoti newspapers, The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) joins its affiliate the Journalists Workers’ Union of Tanzania (JOWUTA) in condemning this act of brutality on journalists who were simply carrying out their job.
